Pune: Alert people on Sunday evening nabbed a 34-year-old man who threatened and robbed a worker walking on the road of Rs 8,000 at Moshi. The arrested accused, Manoj Gaikwad of Tadiwala Road in Pune, is a criminal on the records of the Pune City Police. Gaikwad’s accomplice escaped from the spot. A 28-year-old painting worker lodged a complaint with the Bhosari MIDC Police on Monday.
Sub-inspector Rupesh Khadse of the Bhosari MIDC police said Gaikwad and his accomplice stopped the victim when he was walking along a road in Moshi around 6.30pm on Sunday. The duo threatened the victim and snatched Rs8,000 from his wallet. “When the victim raised an alarm, people on the road rushed to his help. They nabbed Gaikwad. Around the same time, the police patrolling vehicle was passing from there. They took the accused into custody,” Khadse said.The officer said Gaikwad was charged under Section 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has cases registered against him with the Bund Garden police. “Search is on for Gaikwad’s accomplice,” the officer said.
