Corporators raise concerns over incomplete DP roads in general body meeting | Pune News

Pune: More than 25 corporators across party lines during the general body meeting on Wednesday raised concerns over incomplete development plan (DP) roads and links in various city pockets, which is adding to daily traffic chaos. They also claimed that delays in transferable development rights (TDRs), floor space index (FSI), cash compensations are hampering land acquisition for road.Replying to the queries, city engineer Aniruddha Pavaskar said the officers from concerned areas would go on site visits to resolve these issues. The administration is working on the steps to improve the process to allot TDR within 90 days, he said, adding that the action will be taken against officers and staffers responsible for delaying the road related issues and the process to allot TDR.Senior corporator Rajendra Barate said the TDR related proposals pertaining to land acquisition have been pending with the administration for the last many years. These delays, Barate said, are discouraging the land owners to give their land parcels for the road and civic works.Furthermore, some other major issues were raised by the corporators representing merged areas of Nagar road, Wagholi, Hadapsar, Bavdhan, Katraj and Ambegaon. The corporators claimed that 12-meter service road along the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass has not been developed properly despite repeated assurances. Same is the case, they said, with the road that links Hinjewadi with areas of Baner-Balewadi and Kothrud.Prashant Jagtap, former mayor, said the entire process of allotment of TDR against land acquisition has been improper. Many DP roads proposed in the two earlier development plans are still incomplete, he said, and added that the administration must fix responsibility and the officers should be held accountable if road works are not executed within deadlines.Pavaskar said the existing road network in the city is around 9% to 10 % against expected 15%, considering the vehicle population. The administration has been working on 12 missing links this year including a long pending Shivne-Kharadi stretch.“The survey of many DP roads in merged areas has also been been taken up. A detailed project report (DPR) of three roads proposed to ease traffic flow in the Wagholi area is underway,” he said.Corporators raise lower pressure water supply issueMany corporators during the general body meeting raised complaints about irregular and low-pressure water supply. They demanded that the administration must improve supply soon ahead of the remaining months of summer. Head of water supply department Nandkishor Jagtap said area-wise meetings were underway to discuss and resolve water supply issues.Eight coopted members appointed to GB; Two more soonThe names of eight coopeted members were announced for appointment during the general body meeting on Wednesday.
