New Delhi: A one-year-old boy died after being run over by a mini pickup truck in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Wednesday afternoon, police said.According to officials, a PCR call was received at Bindapur police station on July 31 regarding an accident involving a toddler in Sayog Vihar. “When officers reached the spot, they found that the driver had already rushed the injured child to a hospital, accompanied by the child’s mother,” a senior police officer said.Doctors at the hospital, however, declared the child dead on arrival. A police crime team was called to the site, and the area was preserved for forensic inspection.Police have taken the vehicle into custody and registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving on a public way) and 106 (death due to negligence) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.“The child’s father is a labourer, and the family lives in a house located along the roadside. The child was reportedly playing near the entrance while his mother was inside the house. He is believed to have wandered onto the road just before the incident,” the officer added.Police said the investigation is ongoing. tnn
