MUMBAI: Indian Railways has operated a total of 12,075 special trains during the festival season to facilitate convenient travel for passengers. The majority of these trains ran during Diwali and Chhath Puja, with additional services around Durga Puja.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a tweet said, “Ensuring every passenger reaches home safely during festivals is our priority. These trains will serve over 30 lakh passengers, including 9,338 reserved and 2,527 unreserved trips.”“This is a 56% increase compared to last year’s 7,724 trips. These special trains mainly operate from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Gujarat, and the Northeastern states,” he added further.
