Pune: The Bund Garden police filed a case of disobedience to a duly promulgated order by a public servant late on Sunday night against two partners of a pub at the Raja Bahadur Mills compound, the manager and the organiser of the freshers’ party late on Saturday evening.The Pune excise superintendent’s office is conducting an inquiry whether liquor was served to minors. The authorities have not reached a conclusion yet.An officer of the Bund Garden police said, “One of the two partners stays in Borivali, Mumbai, and the other is from Kharadi, Pune. The third is the pub manager and the fourth is a person who organises such events. We have summoned all four to record their statements.” The case has been registered under section 223 (disobedience) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Late on Saturday evening, MNS workers said they had shut down a freshers’ party involving students from three educational institutions at a city pub. Pub representatives told the police and excise officials that the party had ended at 8pm, much before they reached the spot.Excise officials confiscated the registers, CCTV camera footage and other material to ascertain facts about the party and whether liquor was served to minors. “We will take further action based on the outcome of our probe,” excise superintendent Atul Kanade said.HEAD: Student organiser suspended, to lose semesterPune: A prominent academic institution located off Paud Road has handed out a one-month suspension to a third-year BBA student after an internal inquiry found he promoted the Aug 18 freshers’ party at a Mundhwa restobar on a social media handle and got participants to pay Rs400 each through an app.The institution’s senior authorised representative, who did not wish to be named, told TOI: “The student will not fulfill the 75% mandatory attendance norm for the semester by virtue of the month-long suspension and will have to reappear for the entire semester. Our inquiry is on to understand how the students came in contact with the Aug 18 event management people.”The senior official said the student’s parents were summoned and they were all counselled before the Pune police commissioner. More than 800 students participated in the illegal freshers’ party and indulged in raucous behaviour. They also abused and quarrelled with nearby societies’ residents who objected to their behaviour.
