Thane: The BJP on Tuesday formally constituted its corporators’ groups in both the Kalyan–Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), marking an important step in the post-election political process. In the KDMC, where the BJP has 50 elected corporators, Shashikant Kamble was appointed the group leader. Kamble has been associated with the party for several years and is considered a close aide of state BJP president Ravindra Chavan. In the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, the BJP constituted its group of 37 corporators and appointed Rajesh Vadhrya as the group leader. Vadhrya currently serves as the BJP district president in Ulhasnagar and is credited with providing strong local leadership. Under his guidance, the BJP delivered its best-ever performance in the city, contesting all 78 seats and emerging as the single largest party in the civic body. Speaking on the political developments, Ulhasnagar election in-charge Pradeep Ramchandani stated that this time the Mahayuti alliance will have its mayor in Ulhasnagar. The political situation in Ulhasnagar remains fluid. According to sources, the Shiv Sena, along with its local ally parties, has reportedly reached the magic figure of 40 seats on its own and is preparing to form the municipal administration without the BJP. As both parties had contested the elections separately, it will be interesting to see whether the Shiv Sena decides to include the BJP in the formation of power or proceeds independently.
