Biker dies after hitting stationary truck

Pune: A 32-year-old motorcycle rider died after his motorcycle crashed into a stationary truck in the grade separator on Pune-Mumbai highway at Pimpri in the early hours of Sunday.The Pimpri police have identified the deceased as Teja Nijampurkar of Nigdi Pradhikaran.An officer from the Pimpri police said that the accident happened around 3.30, when Nijampurkar was riding his motorcycle towards Nigdi. “A truck’s two rear tyres were flattened. Due to which, he parked on the right lane of the grade separator at Kalbhornagar in Pimpri. Nijampurkar crashed into its rear,” the officer said.He said that Nijampurkar was wearing the helmet. But, he died of severe injuries on his head, face and chest. “We are verifying whether the truck driver had put indicators to alert the other drivers. Else, we will register a case against the truck driver,” he said.The officer said that the police have registered a case against the victim. “Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
