Bali is suffering from what it is called one of the worst floods in decades! According to BBC reports, since Tuesday hundreds of people in Bali have been evacuated after torrential rains caused flooding. Most of the major roads are shut because of landslides and as per reports two bridges damaged. Bali is among Indonesia’s most prominent honeymoon and tourist destinations in Asia. The beautiful tropical destination has been in the news recently because of the severe floods this week after experiencing days of heavy rainfall. The rain has triggered rivers to overflow. Some of the popular villages are flooded and landslides across the island are reported. According to Reuters reports, as of September 12, the flood has claimed several innocent lives. Bali authorities have launched rescue and recovery operations. As for travellers, the natural disaster has created a mass disruption to transport, accommodation, and local services.Areas affectedSix regions in Bali are badly affected, including the provincial capital Denpasar. Other districts affected include Gianyar, Jembrana, and Tabanan. These places have reported rivers overflowing, homes destroyed, and roads blocked. Some hilly regions have also experienced landslides which have further complicated rescue operations. Over a hundred people have been displaced and schools, mosques, and community halls have become temporary shelters.Local airport also affectedAccess to the local airport which is the main gateway for international tourists has been disrupted. While flight operations are continuing, delays are likely to continue. Travellers are strongly advised to confirm schedules with their airlines. In several regions, only heavy trucks and emergency vehicles can navigate through waterlogged roads. Public transport services remain unreliable.
