The main door of a house is believed to be the gateway for both positive and negative energy. As per Vastu Shastra, keeping the right plants at the entrance brings peace, prosperity, and harmony, while the wrong ones may invite obstacles. Bhopal-based astrologer and Vastu consultant Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma shares seven plants and trees that should be avoided at the main entrance. Big trees: Planting big trees directly in front of the main door is considered inauspicious, as they block the entry of positive energy and hinder progress. If the shadow of a tree falls on the door during the day, it is seen as a Vastu defect. Even the Peepal tree, generally regarded as sacred, is not suitable at the entrance. (News18 Hindi)

Cactus: Cactus and other thorny plants may look stylish, but their sharp thorns symbolise tension and unease. Vastu Shastra suggests that placing such plants at the door increases negative energy and can create discord within the household. (News18 Hindi)

Bonsai plants: Though attractive, bonsai represent stunted growth and limitations. Keeping them at the entrance is believed to symbolise obstructions in progress and restricted opportunities for the family. (News18 Hindi)

Dead or dry plants: Withered or lifeless plants near the entrance are considered highly inauspicious. They bring dull, stagnant energy and create a gloomy atmosphere. Replacing them with green, healthy plants is believed to invite positivity. (News18 Hindi)

Tamarind tree and cotton plants: The tamarind tree is linked to negative energy and mental stress, making it unsuitable near the main door. Similarly, the cotton plant is associated with death and unnecessary expenses, and hence should also be kept away. (News18 Hindi)

Milk grass: Milk grass releases a toxic, milky substance and is viewed as inauspicious in Vastu. Keeping it near the entrance is believed to attract conflict and tension within the household. (News18 Hindi)

Fruit trees: Planting fruit-bearing trees at the entrance results in constant shedding of leaves, flowers, and fruits, creating clutter and untidiness. In Vastu Shastra, this is seen as a sign of unrest and obstructions in the home. (News18 Hindi)
