On a windy Sunday night, Delhiites from all walks of life came together to celebrate Lohri with music, dance and food. With women dressed in velvet ensembles and men sporting colourful pagdis and shawls, the gathering hosted by the World Punjabi Organisation was a vibrant celebration of the festival’s spirit.

The evening unfolded with classic Punjabi songs like Paundah Bhangra and other traditional songs, accompanied by folk dances from the vibrant state. Kicking off the evening with energetic gidda, the folk dancers performed on the songs Maar Udari and Boliyaan. Dressed in vibrant colours and adorned with golden jhumke and maang tika, the women set the stage on fire.The host for the evening, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, lit the bonfire to mark the occasion and invited guests to join the celebrations. To the beats of the dhol, Sundar Mundriye had guests dancing around the bonfire. A crackling fire, along with gajak, popcorn and revadi – the staples of Lohri – rounded off the festivities.
