Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday told Shravan Hardikar, who has been given the temporary additional charge as Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner, and Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi to complete land acquisition for key roads in Pimpri Chinchwad under the urgency clause. The directive follows complaints from several housing societies about poor connectivity and commuting woes, as many roads are incomplete due to delayed land acquisition.Pawar met residents and addressed a range of civic issues at the Jansamwad event organised by his party in Rahatni in the Chinchwad assembly constituency.According to the official statement issued by Pawar’s office, the deputy chief minister personally received 3,000 complaints, of which 1,200 were addressed on the spot. Instructions were issued to the departments concerned to address the remaining complaints.Senior officials, including the civic commissioner, district collector and police commissioner, were present, along with Pawar, to address the citizens’ concerns.Pawar has so far held four Jansamwad events in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. He received over 15,000 complaints from citizens, of which 6,200 were addressed on the spot, according to an official statement released by his office. The majority of these complaints were related to civic issues concerning water supply, waste management, building construction permissions, and the police department.Speaking to mediapersons after the event, Pawar said Pimpri Chinchwad is likely to get a new municipal commissioner only after the Bihar assembly elections, as many officers will be deployed on election duty.Pawar, referring to reports that PCMC went into debt during the tenure of Shekhar Singh, who was recently transferred as commissioner of Kumbh Mela in Nashik, said he has received this information and has directed Hardikar to verify the facts.“I represented this city for 25 years and always ensured that the municipal corporation never went into debt,” Pawar said.Earlier in the day, he also visited the new Metro walkway connecting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro station to the peth areas. No Padwa events this yearAjit Pawar on Wednesday said the Pawar family will not organise the Diwali Padwa event in Baramati this year following the demise of his aunt, the wife of Prataprao Pawar and sister-in-law of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, earlier this year.“We have also taken this decision as many parts of Maharashtra witnessed severe flood-related losses,” he added.Earlier, Sharad Pawar also informed reporters that he will not organise the event, during which party workers from across the state come to meet the veteran leader. After the split in NCP, both Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar started holding this event separately.
