Pune: Activists Anjali Damania and Vijay Kumbhar on Tuesday submitted applications to the Bavdhan police and the economic offences wing (EOW) of the Pune police, demanding the naming of deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s elder son, Parth, in the two FIRs related to the Mundhwa land deal. They also demanded that the two FIRs — one registered with the Bavdhan police under the Pimpri Chinchwad commissionerate and the other with the EOW of Pune police — be merged, saying they were both related to the same transaction.“The law clearly states that when there is prima facie evidence of corruption, an FIR should be registered against the individuals concerned. In this case, Parth, who owns 99% shares in the firm (Amadea Enterprises LLP), has not been named in the FIR, while his partner Digvijay Patil, who holds just 1% share, has been included. Therefore, we have submitted an application to the police to include Parth’s name in the FIR too,” Damania told reporters in Pune.Although Damania and Kumbhar had repeatedly urged for Parth’s inclusion in the FIR, they formally submitted this request to the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police only on Tuesday. In their written application, the activists also sought action against JDR Santosh Hingane, the complainant in the Bavdhan case. “Documents we obtained indicate that Hingane, along with two personal assistants and one OSD (officer on special duty) of Ajit Pawar, were aware of the illegal land deal. They should also be questioned,” Damania said.Kumbhar demanded the merger of the two FIRs, saying they related to the same land deal. “It’s unusual that two FIRs exist in different commissionerates, with separate teams investigating in isolation. We want the cases clubbed to ensure a comprehensive probe without agencies passing responsibility,” he said.Police officers said they would review the applications and documents submitted. Deputy commissioner of police (EOW) Vivek Masal said, “Damania visited the commissioner’s office and submitted documents. We will examine them. We have already updated her on the case’s progress.”(With inputs from Gitesh Shelke & Mihir Tanksale)
