New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested the uncle and apprehended the brother of a Delhi University student who was allegedly part of a staged acid attack in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar. Special CP (law and order) Ravindra Singh Yadav confirmed the development. The charges of criminal conspiracy and furnishing false information have been added to the case, said sources.According to police sources, the student’s uncle, Wakil Khan, and her minor brother were involved in the conspiracy and provided false information. Police are also searching for another relative.Her father, Akil Khan, who has been sent to judicial custody in a rape case, allegedly staged the attack to frame the husband of the survivor. Police will seek his custody.Wakil told police that they had opposed Akil’s plan, but he refused to listen. On the day of the incident, Akil allegedly called Wakil and said, “Kaam ho gaya hai” (the job is done). Wakil said Akil went missing after the rape case was filed against him. His niece allegedly informed him about Akil’s plan to pour acid on her and name three people, including the woman’s husband. Wakil claimed that he warned her not to follow Akil’s instructions.
