With an orchestra playing Russian and Indian songs, the Russian Embassy hosted a reception for the city’s diplomatic community to mark Russian Armed Forces Day (February 23), also known as Defender of the Fatherland Day.

Decades of (our) partnership stand as an unparalleled example of trust: Russian AmbassadorWelcoming the gathering and speaking about Indo-Russian relations, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov said, “We are proud of our strong and long-standing military and defence cooperation with India. Decades of partnership stand as an unparalleled example of trust and mutual benefit. Our cooperation is built on deep technology transfer, joint production and the localisation of manufacturing. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated repeatedly, both in the past and in recent times.” He concluded with three hurrahs for the armed forces.

Bella Ciao, Zoobi Doobi: Indian Air Force Band performs a musical setThe Indian Air Force Band added a musical note to the evening with an orchestral performance, playing popular numbers like Bella Ciao, Mera Joota Hai Japani and Zoobi Doobi. A sea of blue and green defence uniforms filled the hall as diplomats and guests gathered for the performance. Dinner featured a spread of Indian and Russian cuisine, alongside a display of embassy awards and traditional Russian dolls.
