Pune: A 35-year-old man under the influence of alcohol vandalised hospital glass panes and assaulted doctors in the Loni Kalbhor area on Wednesday afternoon. During the incident, a doctor and a patient suffered injuries to their heads and hands, police said.The Loni Kalbhor police have registered a case against the man, a resident of Theur on the Pune-Solapur highway. A doctor of the hospital filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station in this regard.According to police, the man told the doctors at the hospital that he had met with a road accident. “We suspect he created a ruckus to avoid paying the hospital for treatment, as he had no money on him,” an officer from the Loni Kalbhor police said.“The complainant runs a hospital near Theur Phata off the Pune-Solapur highway. The suspect arrived at the hospital around 12.45pm with a head injury. After receiving treatment, he refused to pay for medical services. The suspect then verbally abused the doctor and staff. He later created a ruckus on the premises and vandalised the property by smashing the glass panes in the hospital,” the officer said.“A piece of broken glass caused injury to a patient. The suspect also hurled a stone at the doctor,” he added.Police took the man to the station and have served him a notice.
