Pune: Officers of the city fire brigade rescued ten people, including two elderly residents, and a dog after a section of a dilapidated building in Sadashiv Peth collapsed around midnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.No injuries were reported in the incident. According to the fire brigade, parts of the building’s retaining wall, balcony and staircase caved in late at night.The residents were left stranded and it was unsafe for them to remain inside the structure. Fire brigade personnel used ropes and safety belts to evacuate the occupants. They also rescued a dog from the building.Officials said the building, located near LBS Road, had occupants who made frantic calls for help. Rescue vans and a fire tender were deployed to carry out the operation.Fire brigade officials said, “It is a three-storey building. The section, including the staircase, fell from the site and the residents on the second and third floors were stranded.”
