Maha registrations dept achieves nearly 90% of revenue target | Pune News

Pune: The state’s department of registration and stamps has achieved nearly 90% of its annual revenue target, with the 2025–26 financial year drawing to a close. As of March 15, the department has collected Rs56,159.05 crore— approximately 88.4% of its Rs63,500 crore target. Official data reveals that 43.12 lakh documents have been registered so far this fiscal year. Notably, the volume of registrations has already matched the total count for the entire previous year (2024–25), which saw 43.12 lakh registrations and generated Rs58,266.07 crore against a lower target of Rs55,000 crore.Registration officials noted that property transactions have remained consistent, with three to four lakh documents registered monthly. Jan and Feb were particularly strong, each seeing nearly four lakh registrations. The stability of the market has prompted real estate industry bodies to urge the state govt to maintain the status quo on ready reckoner (RR) rates. “We have submitted several requests to avoid an increase in RR rates, as both registrations and revenue have remained steady. However, there are concerns that the govt may still revise rates to offset recently announced social sops,” a developer said.In anticipation of the Gudi Padwa festival on March 19, the department will permit citizens to use the e-registration facility for first-sale properties directly from developers’ offices. While sub-registrar offices will be closed on the festival day, documents submitted via e-registration will be formally processed the following day.“Many citizens consider auspicious occasions like Gudi Padwa ideal for executing property agreements or leave-and-license documents. To facilitate this, online registrations will remain open on March 19, with processing scheduled for when offices reopen,” an official confirmed. The e-registration system, introduced two years ago, is gaining significant momentum. To date, over 700 developers across the state have opted into the system, allowing buyers to complete the process without visiting a sub-registrar office.
