In the age of dating apps, Millennials and Gen Z are turning to Vedic astrology and kundli analysis to find clarity in love and navigate life’s biggest relationship decisions.

The latest report published by Astrotalk on March 17 reveals how young users across India and the United States are choosing Vedic astrology not just for answers, but for reassurance in navigating modern relationships.

Why Millennials And Gen Z Are Turning To Vedic Astrology

The Astrotalk report draws data from over 12 million consultations conducted between April 2025 and March 2026. The data highlights that there is a growing reliance on traditional systems like kundli analysis for clarity.

Despite living in a hyper-digital world, Millennials and Gen Z are relying on Vedic astrology and planetary readings to make sense of their emotions and relationship complexities.

India Vs US: A Cultural Divide In Relationship Questions

One of the striking insights from the report lies in the contrast between India and the United States.

In India, consultations related to relationships and marriage account for nearly 25% of all queries. Most users seek answers to questions such as when they will get married, who their partner will be, and how their married life will unfold. Marriage, in India, remains a central milestone, often tied to family expectations and societal timelines.

In contrast, 33% of consultations in the United States revolve around relationships, but with a different focus. Users are more concerned about relationship quality, compatibility, family planning, and even post-breakup possibilities.

This difference underscores a broader shift: while marriage continues to hold traditional significance in India, relationships in the US are viewed more independently of formal institutions. The emphasis is less on “when will I marry?” and more on “is this relationship right for me?”

Relationships Are The Universal Priority

One constant remains clear: despite these regional differences, relationships are considered a top priority globally. The report reveals that more than 29% of Astrotalk’s revenue comes from consultations related to relationships and marriage across both regions.

This indicates that regardless of geography, people are deeply invested in understanding and improving their personal connections. Whether it is navigating a new relationship, dealing with a breakup, or planning a future together, users are turning to astrology for guidance in personal relationships.

The Digital Revival Of A Traditional Practice

One of the most compelling aspects of the report is how traditional Vedic astrology has seamlessly adapted to the digital age. Users are no longer limited to in-person consultations; they can now connect with the astrologers through online platforms by sharing their birth details or even uploading images for analysis.

According to Puneet Gupta, Founder and CEO of Astrotalk, the essence of astrology remains unchanged despite this transformation. “Even in a fast-moving digital world, people often turn to systems they trust when navigating uncertainty. Technology is simply enabling those traditional conversations to happen instantly, regardless of where someone lives,” he said.

This fusion of tradition and technology is at the heart of astrology’s growing appeal among younger users.

Making Astrology Accessible, Not Different

Gupta emphasises that while the medium has evolved, the practice itself remains deeply rooted in tradition. He explains that astrologers on the platform continue to read charts, analyse planetary patterns, and provide guidance in the same way as they would in an offline setting.

Instead of travelling or scheduling appointments in advance, users can now connect instantly. They can share details, ask questions, and receive guidance in real time, making astrology more aligned with the fast-paced lifestyles of Millennials and Gen Z.

This convenience has played a significant role in driving adoption, especially among users who value immediacy.

Career, Money, And The Bigger Picture

While relationships dominate, other life aspects also show interesting regional variations. In India, nearly 18% of consultations are related to career and business, reflecting the importance of job stability and professional growth. For many young Indians, career success is closely tied to life decisions, including marriage.

In the US, career-related consultations make up around 22%, but there is a stronger emphasis on financial planning and investment. This suggests that while career remains important, long-term wealth management plays a more prominent role in decision-making.

These patterns further highlight how cultural and economic environments shape not just life choices, but also the questions people seek answers to.

Are Young People Becoming Too Dependent?

As astrology apps gain momentum, a common concern arises: are users becoming overly dependent on them for decision-making?

Gupta dismisses this notion, offering a more nuanced perspective. “From what we see, people are not outsourcing their decisions to astrology. Many users from metro cities are doing well in their careers, but when it comes to relationships, things can get complicated. That’s where they look for a second opinion.”

Trust And Repeat Usage

Another important insight from Astrotalk’s internal data is the strong repeat usage among users.

“Usually, they return at specific moments when they need clarity, like when they are making a decision or going through a transition, they tend to consult with their trusted astrologer,” said Gupta.

Rather than constant dependency, this pattern reflects a need-based engagement. This behaviour mirrors how individuals might seek advice from mentors or counsellors, reinforcing the idea that astrology is being used as a supportive tool rather than a directive force.

Why Astrology Resonates Today

The resurgence of Vedic astrology among younger generations can be attributed to several factors.

  • The modern dating dynamics are inherently complex. With endless choices and fewer defined paths, individuals often struggle with decision fatigue.
  • Traditional support systems, such as family guidance, are evolving, especially in urban and global contexts. This creates a gap that astrology helps fill.
  • Astrology provides a sense of structure. It offers timelines, patterns, and interpretations that can make uncertainty feel more manageable.
  • The digital transformation of astrology has made it more accessible than ever. With features like multilingual consultations, international payment support, and 24/7 availability, online platforms have expanded their reach globally.

A Blend Of Old And New

Young people are not rejecting tradition; they are redefining how they engage with it. By integrating astrology into their digital lives, they are creating a hybrid approach that combines ancient wisdom with modern convenience.

For Millennials and Gen Z, astrology is less about predicting the future and more about understanding the present. It helps them navigate their emotions, evaluate compatibility, and make informed choices.
