NEW DELHI: Delhi Police registered two separate cases in the city for allegedly illegally refilling and hoarding LPG cylinders.In the first case, a 55-year-old man was booked in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar, police said. The incident came to light on the night of March 13, when Head Constable Rohit of Gandhi Nagar police station was on beat patrolling. At around 10.30 pm, he reached a shop where he noticed a man transferring LPG gas from a domestic cylinder into smaller cylinders.“When questioned about the activity and asked to produce a licence or permission for refilling LPG cylinders, the man allegedly ignored the police officer and continued the refilling work. During the inquiry, he failed to produce any valid documents,” police sources said.The accused, a resident of Kartar Nagar in New Usmanpur, was repeatedly asked to stop but continued refilling gas from a large domestic cylinder into smaller cylinders. During a search of the shop, police recovered two large domestic LPG cylinders (one filled and one empty), six medium domestic cylinders, one small cylinder, two LPG filling machines, and a weighing machine.The accused and the recovered items were brought to the police station, where a complaint was recorded. Police said he was allegedly refilling LPG cylinders without any licence or permission and was also hoarding gas cylinders without a valid reason.In a separate case, Shakarpur police registered an FIR after a video circulated on social media showing a person allegedly refilling LPG cylinders illegally. During a raid, police apprehended a man who allegedly admitted to refilling LPG gas from large cylinders into smaller cylinders over the past few days. He also admitted to conducting similar refilling activities two to three days earlier. Police said the accused did not possess any licence or authorisation for the activity and was conducting the refilling work at his shop without any safety measures.
