Enough LPG stock in state, don’t queue up at outlets: CM

Pune: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the state has sufficient LPG stock. “I urge people not to line up outside gas agencies,” he told reporters. He alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other opposition politicians are deliberately spreading fear by claiming there is an LPG shortage in the country, which has led to panic buying and long queues at dealers’ outlets. Appealing for calm, he asked citizens to trust the Centre’s efforts to ensure uninterrupted domestic LPG supply. LPG consumers, particularly domestic users, have reported difficulties in booking cylinders online across the country. Two tankers with 93,000 tonnes of LPG, which crossed Strait of Hormuz blocked by Iran for a fortnight, are expected to arrive in Gujarat’s ports on Monday and Tuesday, further easing demand. The Centre has already invoked Essential Commodities Act to manage the supply of LPG and restrictions have been imposed on the sale of commercial gas.
