Navi Mumbai: Two arrested for running fake call centre and duping citizens of Rs 1 crore in trading scam

Navi Mumbai: In a joint operation, the Cyber Police and Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Navi Mumbai crime branch busted a fake stock trading call centre and arrested two men for defrauding victims of Rs 1 crore. The call centre had been in operation since Sept last year.Senior inspector Vishal Patil, said, “The arrested accused are Shivam Dubey (29) and Sujit Valmiki (30). Another wanted accused, Suraj Dubey, residing in Koparkhairane, is being traced. The accused conspired to run the fake call centre by calling citizens and offering equity stock trading, luring them with high returns. The accused were booked under relevant sections of BNS.” Police said when the bank account details obtained from the call centre were checked with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, it was found that five cyber fraud cases were registered from all over the country.
