Pune: Cybercrooks duped an eatery owner (32) from Wakad of Rs 4.14 lakh in Sept and Oct last year under the pretext of helping her in earning good profits in cryptocurrency trading.A case was registered with the Wakad police on Tuesday. An officer from the Wakad police said that in Sept last year, the crooks contacted the woman and promised her 80% profit in a week if she invested in cryptocurrency through them.“The crooks shared a link with the woman and told her to transfer money using the link. The woman transferred Rs 4.14 lakh between Sept and Oct last year to different bank accounts provided to her,” the officer said.He said when the woman asked for her money, the crooks told her to transfer Rs 2 lakh. The woman realised that she was being duped. She filed a complaint application. After the preliminary investigations, a case was registered with the Wakad police, he said.
