Woman arrested for allowing minor nephew to drive mini-truck that hit six vehicles at Kalewadi Phata | Pune News



Pune: The Kalewadi police on Monday arrested a woman for allowing her 17-year-old nephew to drive a mini-truck that rammed six vehicles, injuring three people.The accident occurred in Rahatani on Sunday. Police registered a case against the woman and her nephew under sections 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. A 35-year-old fabricator who suffered injuries in the accident filed a complaint with the police.Sub-inspector Balaji Mete of the Kalewadi police told TOI that the accused woman runs a sand supply business and had purchased the mini-truck recently for her business.“On Sunday morning, her nephew took the wheel of the mini-truck. He, however, lost control of the vehicle and hit six vehicles, including three cars, an autorickshaw and two motorcycles,” Mete said.The officer said the complainant, the autorickshaw driver and a motorcycle rider were injured in the accident.“The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital. The arrested woman was sent to Yerawada Central Prison,” the officer said.
