Pune: The state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday registered a bribery case against a sub-inspector posted at Bund Garden police station for allegedly demanding Rs 1 lakh from a 40-year-old man.According to the ACB, a businessman had submitted a complaint application against the victim at Bund Garden police station, and the sub-inspector was conducting an inquiry into the application. During the inquiry, the officer allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh from the victim and assured him that no case would be registered against him if the money was paid.The victim negotiated the amount, after which the alleged bribe demand was reduced to Rs 1 lakh. He later approached the ACB on March 3.“We verified the phone calls between the sub-inspector and the complainant. After examining the conversations in which the officer allegedly demanded the bribe, we registered a case against him at Bund Garden police station,” an ACB official said.
