Nashik: All India Kisan Sabha state secretary Ajit Nawale welcomed the announcement but said the conditions applied need to be understood. “We welcome the statement. But we have a hunch that the fine print may have something else that could deprive a chunk of farmers from the benefits of the loan waiver,” Nawale said. The Kisan Sabha demanded that loans up to June 30, 2026 should be waived. “The wrong procedures followed by banks is leading to the rise in the loan amounts,” said Bhagwan Borade of NDCC Bank Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti, Nashik. Raju Shetti, president of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, said: “The economic survey has showed that agriculture growth has significantly come down. Farmers are not getting even the amount they invest in farming. The announcement of loan waiver up to Rs2 lakh is an eyewash.” tnn
