Palghar: Two minor boys drowned in a closed stone quarry near Manor, close to the Mumbai — Ahmedabad highway. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon when the children had gone for a swim there. The stone quarry, which is no longer operational, had accumulated deep water. Three children from the area had gone to bathe in the quarry. During the process, an eight-year-old allegedly slipped and fell into the deep water. Seeing him struggle, another 15-year-old boy jumped in to rescue him. However, he too drowned. Police rushed to the spot after being alerted. A search operation was launched and by Friday evening, the eight-year-old’s body was recovered. However, the second boy remained missing till late Saturday evening.
