Protest during AI Summit: Two more held

New Delhi: Delhi Police’s crime branch has arrested two more persons in connection with the “shirtless” protest held at the India AI Impact Summit recently. This takes the total number of arrests in the case to 11. The two have been identified as Kuber Meena and Divyansh Girdhar.Police sources said that Meena was “directly involved” in the demonstration at Bharat Mandapam. The second accused is alleged to have played a key role in documenting the event. Girdhar allegedly recorded videos and took photographs of the protest, which were subsequently circulated online to generate traction on social media. Both individuals are reportedly associated with Indian Youth Congress (IYC). The crime branch which took over the probe earlier this week has been scanning CCTV footage and digital evidence to identify all participants in what they describe as a “deep-rooted conspiracy.” Officials claim that the protest was a premeditated attempt to breach security at a high-security international event. The investigation has already seen the arrest of IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, whom the police have termed the mastermind behind the logistics and execution of the protest. Charges against the accused include rioting, criminal conspiracy, and promoting enmity between groups. The police are continuing raids across multiple states to apprehend other individuals who provided logistical support or were involved in the planning of the demonstration.
