New Delhi: A 45-year-old man, who came to Delhi to attend a wedding, allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a train at Uttam Nagar East metro station. This was the second such incident reported at the station in the past four days. Services on the Blue Line were briefly affected. Authorities received information at 10.12 am about the incident. It was found that the man reportedly leapt from the platform and was struck by a train. He was identified as a native of Rajasthan. “He was suffering from depression for the past several years and was undergoing treatment at RML Hospital. He visited the hospital on Monday also for treatment. He came to Delhi to attend his elder brother’s daughter’s wedding, who lives in Uttam Nagar,” said a police officer. Police initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to inquiries and reports on cases of suicide. On Friday, a 17-year-old boy died after allegedly jumping in front of a train at Uttam Nagar East Metro station.
