Testing of Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro route complete, says MP Mohol | Pune News



Pune: Member of Parliament (MP) Murlidhar Mohol Pune on Sunday said that the Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro line will start soon. “Testing of this 23km Metro route has been successful. The Vanaz-Ramwadi Metro route will be extended till Wagholi, and the Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate route will be extended to Katraj,” he told reporters after an interaction with citizens in the Gokhalenagar area of Shivajinagar.Mohol said that the Central cabinet has approved the new routes from Khadakwasla to Kharadi and Manikbaug to Nal Stop. “This will strengthen the city’s public transport system and alleviate traffic congestion,” Mohol said with confidence.

Asked about the status of airport works in Purandar and Lohegaon, the minister of state for civil aviation said, “The process of acquiring 325 acres for the expansion of Lohegaon airport’s runway is ongoing. The planned international airport at Purandar is a ‘dream project’ of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’s govt, and land acquisition for it has been fast-tracked.”On the last Sunday of every month, a Janata Darbar is held to resolve pending issues at the local, state, and Central levels. Officials of various authorities participate in these programmes to resolve public issues. Among issues raised before Mohol by attending citizens at Sunday’s Janata Darbar, held around noon, were problems related to Aadhaar cards, Ayushman Bharat cards, etc.As per Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) officials, a target of March 31, 2026 was earlier estimated for the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar line, but it is likely to delayed due to pending work on signaling systems and station facilities.Authorities have at present submitted an application to get safety clearance for the line from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).
