On Lodhi Road, a towering Sap-taparni treefondly called the “jhula ped” has become a world of joy for children from Haji Colony who study at nearby Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya. After school, they tie cloth to its low branches, crafting makeshift swings that carry their laughter into the evening air. “We once aimed for 50 swings under this tree; now, we make only 15,” one such kid, Raunak, says softly, as the branches continue to cradle their dreams.
