17-year-old jumps to death at Delhi's Uttam Nagar East Metro station

NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy tragically died after allegedly jumping in front of a train at Uttam Nagar East Metro station on Friday. Police suspect personal issues may have led him to take the extreme step. Authorities received information at 11.07 am about a person jumping onto the tracks. Upon reaching the spot, they found that the victim had leapt from platform number 1 and was struck by a train arriving from the Dwarka side. His body was recovered from the tracks shortly thereafter. Investigations revealed that the deceased was a resident of Najafgarh. He had recently completed Class 12 and was attending coaching classes in Uttam Nagar. According to police, he was reportedly upset over personal matters. His father works as a contractual driver with the Delhi Transport Corporation, and he was the only child in the family. “The boy was pursuing coaching after finishing Class 12. He was said to be troubled by personal issues,” said DCP (Metro) Kushal Pal Singh. The body was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), which pertains to inquiries and reports in cases of suicide.
