Triple-seat rider abuses Pune police constable

Pune: The Bibvewadi police registered a case against a motorcycle rider (31) from Undri for abusing a police constable after the latter stopped him at Bibvewadi for tripling on the motorcycle at around 9pm on Thursday.The constable (52) lodged a complaint against the motorcycle rider on Friday morning. The motorcycle rider, who runs a shop in Undri, was released after police served him a notice.According to the police, the motorcycle rider was heading towards Swargate from Undri on Bibvewadi Road, off Pune-Satara Road. As the city traffic police are taking continuous action against triple-seat riders. The police caught as many as 5,380 two-wheeler riders so far and imposed a fine of Rs 1.03 crore on them. Police also seized over 3,000 two-wheelers during the drive.In the Bibvewadi case, the policemen spotted the triple-seat riders and asked the motorcycle rider to stop. The rider stopped stopped his motorcycle and the police constable started issuing a challan against him. However, the rider raised his voice and claimed that the police did not have the right to stop him. The police constable asked him to pay the fine.At this moment, the motorcycle rider abused the constable. He was detained on the spot and was taken to the police station for further action.This is not the first case of abusing a police personnel. Last year in Jan, a case was registered against a woman with the Warje police for using criminal force against a public servant while on duty. The incident occurred after a woman police constable told a motorcycle rider to stop upon spotting her driving on the wrong side of the road. The rider, a woman, aged 26, is from Warje.
