Mumbai: A 23-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint against her ex-boyfriend for stalking her and threatening her and her family. Kurar Police has registered an FIR under provisions of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita for stalking.The victim works in a private company and stays at Malad East with her parents and siblings. Two years ago, she got acquainted with the 22-year-old accused over Snapchat. The two exchanged phone numbers and spoke regularly. In April 2025, they met for the first time in the woman’s residential locality. Thereafter, they met frequently and had a relationship. But the woman’s family was opposed to the match and she broke ties with him.In Jan 2026, the woman got engaged to another man. When the accused found out, he started to stalk her. He threatened her family to call off the engagement, else he wouldn’t spare anyone. The woman and her father, in separate instances, tried to convince him to move on, but in vain.When the accused started to defame the woman, she decided to approach the Kurar Police recently and lodge a complaint.
