Bribe for settling bill: DJB staffer among two held

New Delhi: CBI has arrested a Delhi Jal Board employee and another individual in a bribery case linked to the alleged settlement of a pending water bill. According to an official statement, the agency registered a case on Feb 8 following a complaint againstVinod Kumar, a peon-cum-assistant meter reader posted with the Board’s Zone-VI in Seelampur. It was alleged that the employee demanded a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a house owner to waive off an outstanding water bill. Of the total amount, he allegedly accepted Rs 5,500 on Feb 3 and demanded the remaining amount to settle the bill. The agency laid a trap on Feb 9 and caught Kumar and another person, identified as Nitin Kumar, red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 6,500 from the complainant. Both were arrested. tnn
