NEW DELHI: A 37-year-old woman died after her son accidentally discharged an illegal firearm in Jangpura. The incident occurred in Pant Nagar on Tuesday night.At 10.39 pm, police received a call from Moolchand Hospital regarding the incident. The victim, Sumati, was brought dead to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her face.Preliminary investigations by the Hazrat Nizamuddin police revealed that the woman’s 18-year-old son, Tarun, recently procured an unlicensed countrymade pistol from an individual in Ashram. While Tarun was demonstrating the weapon to his mother, the firearm went off unexpectedly. Following the shooting, Tarun fled the scene but was apprehended. During interrogation, he led investigators to a nearby drain where he discarded the weapon.
