Woman booked after pet dog bites electrician in Mumbai

Mumbai: The MIDC police registered an FIR against a woman for negligent conduct after her pet dog allegedly bit and seriously injured an electrician in Andheri East.The incident occurred on Wednesday at 10 pm when the injured man, Sanjay Panchal (42), was returning home on foot after dinner at a friend’s place. The FIR was registered against Soni Pandey after her pet suddenly bit Panchal on his right hip near the Hanjar Nagar Pump House area, close to Jai Mahakali Chawl in Andheri East.Police said after the attack, Panchal tried to push the dog away. Local residents, Rekha Paikekar (25) and Meenakshi Uttare (40), raised an alarm, following which the dog released his trousers and ran towards Babu Rewala Chawl near the pump house. Hearing the commotion, several residents gathered at the spot. The dog’s owner also arrived there and allegedly got into an argument with the locals, the complaint stated.Panchal immediately dialled 100 and sought police assistance. Within five minutes, officers from MIDC Police Station reached the spot. During a preliminary inquiry, it was confirmed that the dog belonged to Pandey, a resident of Babu Rewala Chawl near the pump house. Police took Panchal to the police station and advised him to undergo a medical examination. He later received treatment at Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari East and subsequently lodged a formal complaint.
