Hinjewadi police register case against towing van helper for beating up motorcyclist, abusing his wife

Pune: The Hinjewadi police on Monday registered a case against a helper on a towing van on the charge of beating up a motorcyclist and abusing his wife.The incident occurred in Wakad on Saturday, following heated arguments over towing the two-wheeler from a no-parking zone, police said.The police booked the accused (27) under sections 115 and 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).An officer from the Hinjewadi police said on Saturday night, the victim and his wife parked their motorcycle near a nursery in Wakad. “A towing van of the Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police towed their vehicle as it was a no-parking zone.The victim stopped the van and agreed to pay the fine amount. The victim, however, stated in his complaint that one of the helpers abused him and his wife. The helperalso hit the victim with a helmet and damaged his wife’s cellphone,” the officer said.The police registered the case against the accused, who is from Katraj. “Our investigations are on,” he said.
