New Delhi: A head constable of Delhi Police was allegedly attacked and robbed of his service pistol by two unidentified men during routine patrolling at Rose Garden in Safdarjung Enclave last Thursday.According to the complaint filed by head constable Rajkumar, posted at Safdarjung Enclave police station in southwest Delhi, he was on uniformed beat patrol around 2pm when some people informed him about two men who had entered the bushes near the walking track inside Rose Garden and were consuming intoxicants.The cop reached the spot around 2.10pm, where he found the men, aged 35-40 years, allegedly intoxicated. When he tried to question them, both men allegedly abused and attacked him. One of the accused, described as strongly built and wearing a red and white tracksuit, forcibly snatched the head constable’s govt-issued pistol from his waist and pointed it at him, attempting to fire.Rajkumar managed to push his hand aside, narrowly escaping injury as the bullet went in another direction. The accused then threatened to kill the cop if he followed them and fled. One suspect escaped into the bushes of the garden while the other ran towards Outer Ring Road near Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi.The armed suspect allegedly stopped a passing motorcyclist on the service road by threatening him with the pistol, forced him to give a lift, and fled towards Hauz Khas.
