Anand Vihar RRTS station to get pod hotel

New Delhi: The Anand Vihar Namo Bharat station on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut RRTS corridor will get a pod hotel with 30 beds, along with a fine dining restaurant and other commuter-oriented facilities. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has awarded the work for licensing of property development of over 4,000 square metres at the station. Pod hotels are designed to offer commuters short, safe and affordable stays. “At a high-footfall interchange station like Anand Vihar, the pod hotel will provide a much needed resting option to commuters travelling long distances. For instance, a traveller arriving from Meerut and scheduled to catch a long-distance train from Anand Vihar station can rest here, instead of going out to find a hotel. This not only saves time but also offers a convenient and economical alternative, especially for those with short layovers,” said an official of NCRTC. This area is distributed across four locations on different levels of the station, enabling seamless integration of hospitality and commercial facilities. The other proposed facilities are food and beverage retail outlets, office spaces, apparel stores and similar facilities,” said an official. This initiative forms part of NCRTC’s broader plan to monetise the commercial potential of the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor, thereby augmenting non-fare box revenue (NFBR). The station is among the busiest multimodal transit hubs in NCR, owing to its direct connectivity with a Delhi Metro station on the pink and blue lines, the Anand Vihar railway station, and two inter-state bus terminals, one on the Delhi side and the other at Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh. The station at Anand Vihar is a key gateway for people travelling to eastern India and sees high commuter movement.
