Mumbai: IIT-Bombay is celebrating its inaugural Mental Strength Week from Jan 12-18, commemorating Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary and promoting focus, emotional wellbeing, and mental resilience within the campus community. The week-long initiative, the first one taken by any institute, saw participation from over 1,500 students. As a highlight, the Student Wellness Centre hosted a two-day Manashakti Mind Gym on Jan 15 and 16, which was open to students, faculty, and staff. The exhibition offered hands-on, technology-assisted yet non-screen activities designed to explore the mind’s potential. Participants engaged in challenges such as concentration-based ball control and meditation feedback, gaining real-time insights into the effects of focus, calmness, and attention. The idea of the Mind Gym philosophy is balancing the left and right brain. The exhibition’s guided activities and brain-boosting games aimed to activate both hemispheres, enhancing attention, memory, executive function, and holistic thinking, mentioned a statement issued by the institute.By emphasizing physical, movement-based exercises over digital engagement, the Mind Gym highlighted the importance of mental strength, sustained focus, and inner resilience.
