Mumbai: All is not well within the local Congress leadership following the party’s poor performance in the BMC elections, with some netas publicly expressing their anger. The Congress has issued a show-cause notice to its MLC, Bhai Jagtap, for making anti-party statements and demanding the resignation of Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad after the electoral setback. The show-cause notice, issued by AICC Secretary U. B. Venkatesh, seeks a satisfactory explanation from Jagtap within seven days as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for breaching party discipline and violating party ethics.
The Comgress had won 31 seats in 2017 BMC election, but this time its number reduced to 24.
