Gang abducts doctors & 2 others, extorts Rs19 lakh | Pune News



Pune: The Pune Rural police detained a gang of five men who abducted a 58-year-old medical practitioner, his assistant, and driver, and extorted Rs19 lakh from them.The incident happened between Jan 10 and 12 near Uruli Kanchan. The gang, on Jan 10 at around 10.30pm, abducted the trio when they were driving in a car. They threatened the trio with sharp weapons, and one of them even bit the medical practitioner.

“The gang threatened to kill the victim, his family members, driver, and assistant. They demanded Rs20 lakh to release them. After getting Rs19 lakh in cash, the trio released them on Jan 12,” an officer from the Uruli Kanchan police said.He said that after receiving the complaint, the police took five accused into custody. “Our investigations are on,” he said.
