Fire breaks out at BJP MP’s home, nobody injured

New Delhi: A fire was reported at the official residence of BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Mother Teresa Crescent Road in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday morning. Nobody was injured.The fire broke out in an outdoor room, possibly triggered by a short circuit and damaged some household items, Prasad wrote on X. “My wife, my son and I are in Patna. The fire brigade responded quickly this morning and extinguished the fire. The investigation is ongoing. We are all safe. Thank you for everyone’s well wishes,” he added. The fire department was informed about the fire at 8.05am and three fire tenders with 20 firefighters were sent to the spot immediately. The team ensured that the fire did not spread to adjoining areas or nearby structures. “The fire was brought under control by 8.35am,” a fire official said.A police officer said the room was locked and they were probing if the fire was triggered by a short circuit or by an electrical appliance left switched on, which might have ignited nearby combustible materials. “Forensic teams went to the spot and collected evidence,” he said. At the time of the incident, security officials and caretakers were at the house.Last year, a fire broke out at Brahmaputra Apartments, a residential complex on Bishambhar Das Marg in New Delhi that houses members of Rajya Sabha.
