Thane: Shiv Sena candidate and former mayor Minakshi Shinde approached Thane police after an allegedly doctored audio clip of a phone conversation between her and one of her co-workers went viral on social media.The clip, which surfaced on Friday, purportedly features Shinde using abusive language and expletives while referring to a few detractors from her own party and certain activists from her area, and their female relatives belonging to a native community, following an alleged dispute over an election-related issue. Addressing the media on Friday, Shinde —who is contesting from ward number 3— denied the voice in the clip was hers and termed it a smear campaign by political rivals “unable to match her developmental work.” A senior police officer said complaints from both sides were being examined and no case has been registered.
