Pune: Maharashtra minister of state for home Yogesh Kadam on Wednesday late evening assured citizens that the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme will continue and warned against attempts to create fear in Yerwada. Addressing a Shiv Sena campaign meeting in the Yerwada Ward No 6, Kadam said that if anyone was deliberately spreading an atmosphere of intimidation and the police administration failed to act, citizens should report to his party leaders immediately.Kadam spoke at a public meeting organised in support of the Shiv Sena candidates, including Anand Goyal, Snehal Jadhav, Kishor Waghmare, and Komal Waghchaure, and a large number of women from the ward were present at the event. Shiv Sena senior leader Neelam Gorhe was also present.

Expressing satisfaction at the turnout, Kadam said he was delighted to see such a large gathering of women, who are beneficiaries of the scheme, and added that he would send a photograph of the meeting to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He reiterated that the state govt was committed to women-centric welfare schemes and would ensure their uninterrupted implementation.Addressing the gathering, Gorhe cautioned residents against placing trust in people who, in collusion with outside builders, allegedly pushed false Slum Rehabilitation Authority projects. She said, “The govt had a clear and transparent plan for slum redevelopment, and we promise that over the next 10 years, houses would be provided through SRA projects in a systematic manner.”Gorhe also announced that the govt aimed to make nearly 2 lakh women financially independent under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, strengthening livelihoods and economic security for women across the state.
