New Delhi: A court on Wednesday issued the release orders for four accused in the larger conspiracy case related to the Feb 2020 northeast Delhi riots, following the grant of bail by Supreme Court earlier this week.Delhi Police filed its verification reports on Wednesday for Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa Ur Rahman, Mohd Saleem Khan and Meeran Haider, clearing the way for their release. Additional sessions judge Sameer Bajpai accepted the bail bonds furnished by them and directed their release after considering the verification reports regarding the documents and the sureties produced before the trial court. Later in the evening, Fatima was the first one to walk out of Tihar Jail around 9.30 after completing all formalities. The remaining three were released shortly thereafter. Shadab Ahmed, another accused who was also granted bail, has not yet appeared before the trial court to furnish his bail bonds and sureties.Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to them while denying similar relief to two other accused Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. The apex court observed that Khalid and Imam stood on a “qualitatively different footing” as far as the nature of the prosecution case and the evidence placed on record were concerned. It noted that their alleged role and culpability, if any, appeared to be “limited in nature” as against Khalid and Imam. Meanwhile, 11 conditions have been imposed on the five accused, including restrictions on attending rallies or public meetings, and prohibition on circulating posters, banners or any other campaign material in any form. They were also directed to execute a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh each, with two local sureties of the like amount, to the satisfaction of the trial court.Several activists and former student leaders were arrested under stringent provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the case and most of them have got bail.
