Mumbai: Oshiwara police have arrested a 40-year-old history-sheeter for stealing jewellery worth nearly Rs 1.4 crore from actor Abhimanyu Singh‘s bungalow on Dec 30. Abhimanyu is the brother of actor Chandrachur Singh.Police said the accused Manoj Rathod, who targeted bungalows in the Oshiwara-Versova belt, was identified in the CCTV footage. They tracked him down to a densely populated chawl in Virar (E), arrested him, and recovered Rs 1.3 crore of the stolen booty.“On Dec 30, around 2am, he entered Singh’s bungalow from the terrace and fled with the jewellery. Singh’s elderly mother, his in-laws, and the help were sleeping on different floors in the bungalow,” said a police officer. The robbery was discovered the next morning. DCP Dikshit Gedam supervised the team of senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, inspector Sachin Patil, assistant inspector Vikas Kadam and staff, who scanned CCTV footage and tracked down the accused. “The CCTV camera at the actor’s bungalow did not have night vision and the footage was dark. We used technical assistance to track down the accused to Virar,” said the officer.
