Pune: Eight men forcibly stripped a dealer of used cars and then one of them opened fire in his direction at an isolated spot in Gokulnagar off Katraj-Kondhwa Road at 11.30pm on Dec 31.The victim (31) of Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa lodged a complaint which was registered for attempt to murder, causing hurt, causing hurt using dangerous weapons, abduction, criminal intimidation and unlawful assembly against the eight men.

Deputy commissioner of police (zone V) Rajlaxmi Shivankar said, “We arrested four youngsters in the murder case of Akash Krishna Chabukshwar (21) on Jan 2. During questioning, they mentioned the Gokulnagar firing incident in which their friends were involved.”The DCP said, “We tracked down the used car dealer, who was humiliated. We have arrested Ayush Kamthe, Abhi Mhaske, Abhi Patil and Mangesh Mane in this connection. We are looking for their four accomplices.”Senior inspector Amar Kalange of Yevalewadi police told TOI: “A few months ago, the dealer had renovated and refurbished an old car. One of the arrested men approached him and showed interest in buying the vehicle. He took the car out for a drive without paying and met with an accident on the way.”The suspect drove back to the used car dealer’s showroom and returned the damaged car. This led to arguments between them. The dealer demanded damages and compensation, but the suspect refused to pay, the officer said.“The dealer threatened the suspect, who colluded with his friends and they abducted the used car dealer from his showroom. They took him to an isolated spot, forcibly stripped him and fired a bullet in his direction. However, the bullet missed the target,” Kalange added.
