He presented documents related to the trust’s land to reporters. “The land belongs to a charitable trust, which can only be given on lease and cannot be sold. The trust had approached the Charity Commissioner’s office to develop a building on a part of the plot and sought permission for a lease deed,” he said. After getting permission to lease the property, the trust floated a tender and three firms responded, he said. “One of the firms was awarded the tender. However, the firm sold the property after developing it, instead of leasing it.”Last year, NCP opened its Pune office in the same building. Kumbhar has questioned the political party’s decision. “Even the MahaRERA had taken action against the developer of the property and kept the project in abeyance by freezing the project account. NCP led by the deputy chief minister should not open its office in a building which stands unauthorised,” Kumbhar said. When NCP city unit president Subhash Jagtap was contacted, he said, “We took all necessary permissions before opening our party office. We have required documents in our possession.”
