New Delhi: Three people were arrested for allegedly stealing denim cloth worth around Rs 15.4 lakh from a shop in north Delhi’s New Rohtak Road.Police received an online e-FIR based on the complaint of the 41-year-old shop owner on Dec 24 at Sarai Rohilla police station. In a case of nighttime burglary, the accused broke the lock of the shop and stole 22 bundles of jeans material, each worth around Rs 70,000. A case was registered under sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house) and 331 (house trespass or house break-in) of BNS. “CCTV cameras installed near the spot were checked and analysed, wherein the offending tempo was captured,” said DCP (north) Raja Banthia. The vehicle was identified and the owner told the cops that one Naresh had booked it on the day of the incident from New Rohtak Road to Yamunapar. Acting on a tip-off, Naresh, a 45-year-old resident of Prem Nagar, was nabbed on Sunday. The cops claimed that he had committed the burglary with three of his associates, identified as Iqbal, Ashraf and Hanif. They had reportedly taken the stolen cloth to Iqbal’s godown in Seelampur. Iqbal then sold them to various buyers, including 10 rolls worth around Rs 7 lakh to one Umar Khan (48). He was apprehended and the rolls were seized from Khayala Industrial Area. Co-accused Hanif (41) was arrested from Seelampur on Tuesday evening. Iqbal and Ashraf are absconding. Naresh was found to have previously been involved in 16 cases of burglary and theft. Khan was previously involved in a case of hurt and Hanif was involved in a murder case.
